John Chandler Chamberlain was born in Woodstock, Windham County, Connecticut. He was the son of Elsiha Chamberlain and Sarah Chandler. John Chamberlain married Hannah Leonard, daughter of Jacob Leonard and Hannah Morse, on November 1825, at perhaps, Woodstock, CT. John served in the Civil War as he was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). He died on 28 May 1875 at age 73. He is buried at Bradford Marcy Cemetery, Center Road, Woodstock, CT. He had 10 children.
