Augusta Anola Burns, 83, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, August 23, 2002, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born September, 30, 1918, in Austin, Texas and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. She worked for the Department of Public Safety at Camp Mabry in Austin., specifically for the head of the Texas Rangers, one of whom introduced her to her future husband, a law student. While there she was a member of the "S" Women's Corp at Camp Mabry during World War II. Augusta then chose what she considered the most important career of her life, that of motherhood, at which she excelled. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Robert L. Burns, her son, Robert B. Burns, and her son-in-law, Mike Gibson. Augusta is survived by her daughters Barbara Gibson, Beverly Burns and Becky Mott, son-in-law, Roger Mott, grandchildren, Michael Mott and Jennifer Mott Williams and brother, Dale Burt. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Our family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to guardian angel Sandra. Funeral services 11:30 a.m. August 31, 2002, at Memorial Oaks Chapel, Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway. Published by Houston Chronicle on Aug. 30, 2002.
