JOYCE POE BANKS, 68, a native Houstonian, was born September 18, 1933 and passed from this life Sunday, August 11, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Bill D. Banks, her father, Carl Poe and her mother, Ida Belle Poe. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, David W. and Diane Banks, and Paul D. and Pearl Banks; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl W. and Judy Poe; four grandchildren, Jamie Lynne Banks, Cristie Renee Banks, Tiana F. Valencia and Steven A. Valencia, Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Her greatest gift was her love for her family and friends and her fondest memories included spending time with her family at her bay house, talking daily with her close friends and enjoying the view of her beautiful backyard. A devoted wife and supporter of her husbands career with Exxon and his involvement with the United Way Foundation.
Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 7:00 P. M. to 9:00 P. M. Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway at Eldridge. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 P. M. Wednesday, August 14, 2002, in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Poe officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery. For those who so desire, memorial contributions can be sent to, American Heart Association, Houston Division, P. O.
