E.H. (Jack) Elkin, 65, of 1106 Collins Drive in Effingham died at 1:25 a.m. today in John Cochran Hospital in St. Louis.
Mr. Elkin was a former businessman in Dieterich and was the owner of Elkin Oil Clompany for 43 years operating a Texaco Gas Station. He was a past member of the Dieterich Fire Department and was a Shriner with membership in the Zurrah Temple in Terre Haute.
Mr. Elkin was born Dec. 12, 1915 in Jasper County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Elkin of Dieterich. He married Jessie Carter and she survives.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Lee Ann Elkin of Collinsville; Jacqueline Sue Elkin of St. Louis; son, Fred B. Elkin of Dieterich and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Mr. Elkin will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the First Christian Church in Effingham with the Rev. Lawrence Beebe officiating. Vistiation will be from 4 to 8 pm. Tuesday in the Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.
