George W Martin was the son of Frederick Martin and Sarah Wolf, natives of Pennsylvania. George was the fourth child of four children. His parents died when he was age 30.

In 1830 he married Mary Petley, a native of Lebanon County, Pennslvania. They had four children: Josiah, Sarah, William, and Rebecca. Mary died in 1842 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.

George married a second time on 21 Dec 1843 to Eliza Bird, a native of Pennsylvania. George and Eliza had seven children: Emma, Grace, George, Elliot, Maggie, Charles, and Mary. Eliza died 5 Mar 1876.

In 1856 George and family came to Henry County, Iowa.

George's third marriage was to Sabina J Frame. Sabina had two children from her previous marriage to William H Ogg: Nellie and Jennie. William was a veteran of the Civil War and died in 1871 of consumption contracted while in the army.

George and Sabina had one child: Clifford.

George died in 1893 at the age of 83 years. Sabina died in 1928 at age 91 years.

George is buried with his 2nd wife, Eliza, at Ebenezer Cemetery. Sabina is buried with her 1st husband
