Robert "Bob" Miller Buck of Mobile, 91, died Monday March 28, 2011. A native of Robertsdale, Alabama, he was born May 15, 1919 to Cleofhus and Edna Buck and grew up amongst his five siblings. He was a graduate of Robertsdale High School and later attended Livingston State College (now the University of West Alabama), for two years. By all accounts, he enjoyed a rich and full life growing up in South Alabama before entering military service in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941 at the age of 22. He would later serve his country a second time in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1945. Bob married Sue Abercrombie June 12, 1961, and together they shared 49 blessed years until his passing. They began their marital life in Robertsdale while Bob began his career in Federal Service at Brookley Field in Mobile. When Brookley Field closed in the early sixties, they relocated to Warner Robins, Georgia, where Bob continued his federal career until his retirement in June, 1992. While living in Georgia, Bob and his wife Sue were members and contributors at Central Baptist Church in Warner Robbins. He was an ordained deacon with the church and served faithfully as one of its lay leaders. In 2003, Bob and Sue retuned to South Alabama, moving to Mobile to lend support to family members needing medical care. Bob is preceded in death by his parents (Cleofhus and Edna Buck), two brothers (Virgil and Bill Buck), and one sister (Grace Waters). He is survived by his wife Sue Buck of Mobile, Alabama, his brother C.M. Buck and sister Mary Vivar, both of Robertsdale, Alabama, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Services were held Wednesday March 30 at Mack Funeral Home, Robertsdale. Graveside services followed at Fairhope Memorial Gardens, Fairhope, with Rev. W.P. Abercrombie officiating. Pallbears were Tom Abercrombie, Marion McHugh, Johnny Buck, Charles Buck, Mike Vivar, Alan Thrower and Gary Thrower. Arrangements were made by Mack Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Robertsdale.
