Cassie Lou Dixon-Brown, a retired nurse, went home December 13, 2007 to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer. She was born, June 9, 1939, in Doyle, LA to the union of Amos Dixon Sr. and Albertha Taylor-Dixon. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Academy in New Orleans, LA where she graduated in 1952. Cassie's love for helping others, lead her to enroll and graduate from the Los Angeles College of Nursing. She got a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Redding University in San Bernardino, CA. She shared her skills and talents at Harbor General Hospital, the John Wesley Hospital, and the Los Angeles County Jail. She shared her leadership skills at LaVina Hospital as the Director of Nursing, Huntington Hospital as the Manager of Risk Management, and Rock Haven Sanitarium as a Director of Nursing and where she retired in 2001. Along the way she was married, had three children, and divorced. She attended several churches where the ministers were Rev. Elder and Rev. Ike.
Cassie was an active member of: the Pasadena Links, Altrusa International Inc. of Glendale, and What Good Are We, Inc. of Los Angeles. She was also an American Red Cross Volunteer.
Cassie was preceded in death by her father, Amos Dixon Sr. of Hammond, LA, her mother Albertha Taylor-Dixon, and her sister Helen Dixon-Burns both of Altadena, CA.
She is survived by two brothers, Amos Dixon Jr. of Yucca Valley, CA and George E Dixon of Kent, WA; sister, Ammie Aline Anderson of San Bernardino, CA, and three children, Robin Hollis of Altadena, CA, Ronald Allen Brown of San Bernardino; Debra Hunt of Pasadena, CA; 3 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
