CARBOLIC ACID CAUSED DEATH OF WOMAN
Mrs. Jocina Akers of Alexandria Who Had Been Married Three Times

ALEXANDRIA,IND., May 20 - With a four ounce carbolic acid bottle emptied of its contents, beside her pillow, Mrs. Jocina Akers, who returned to Alexandria four weeks ago from Longford, Kan., was found dead in bed this morning, at the home of her father, Mr. McCowen, in this city. Deep red scars on the woman's lips told of the manner in which she had ended her life, even if the bottle had not been a mute witness.

Mrs. Akers as 49 years old and had been married three times. Her return to Alexandria was the result of disagreement with last husband, John Akers, to whom she was married a few years ago. Her first husband was Levi Carver, of this place, and after her divorce from him she married Calvin Cree, also of Alexandria. The children surviving are Mrs. Ethel Carver Wells, who lives here, and Herbert, Gertrude and Hortense Cree, who live with their father.

A search of the McCowen home by Coroner Fankboner of Summitville, gave no message of any kind. It is known, however, that the woman had been despondent for several weeks as a result of her continued domestic troubles, which are supposed to have preyed on her mind until she ended her life.

Mrs. Akers made an unsuccessful attempt to kill herself by cutting a radial artery with a razor several years ago, but her efforts were unsuccessful. Her funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
