Bill will be remembered through his enormous gifts of leadership and ability to go the extra mile in working on the board of the American Red Cross, Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, S.A.L. Colorado State Detachment Commander, Post Commander of the Sons of the American Legion, and member of the American Legion Raiders. Bill's dedication and perseverance to others will be remembered through his retirement from I.B.M. He was well known and loved by the staff members and children of Academy District 20, Whitefield District 3, Cheyenne Mountain District 12 and memorialized through the dedication of the Aspen Valley High School Library to William "Bill" Abbey Library.
Bill loved camping, motorcycle riding, and was always willing to volunteer and extend his hand to help. He will be deeply missed by his beloved pets. Bill will always be remembered for his big heart and laughter.
Viewing will be held at Dove-Witt Mortuary, Fountain, CO on Monday, May 26 from 4-7pm and services on Tuesday, May 27, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill Abbey's name at the Memorial Oncology Group, American Diabetes Association, Sons of the American Legion Post 38, or Dream Power Animal Shelter.
