Walter S. Potts, 84, formerly of Hopper Road, Syracuse, and the Norstar Apartments, Liverpool, died Friday at the Loretto Geriatric Center after a long illness.
He was a native of Frenchtown, N.J., and had resided in the Syracuse area for 60 years.
He formerly operated the Walt Potts Mobil service stations in Syracuse. He was a 1928 graduate of Rutgers University.
He wife, Eva, died last January.
Mr. Potts was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Clay and a 50-year member of Central City Lodge 305, F&AM. He was also a member of the Southside Businessmen's Association and the Gasoline Dealers Association.
Mr. Potts is survived by a daughter, Linda P. Golden of Liverpool; two sons, John L. of Sandy Creek and William W. of Onondaga Hill; a sister, Erma Sheets of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St., Liverpool. The Rev. Ronald F. Hoffman will officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay.
There are no calling hours.
