Bernard is the son of Franz and Gertrude (Berkemeyer) Weinekötter. He was born in Oelde and had two sisters, Anna Elisabeth (1867) and Maria Anna (1874). He was a shoemaker. He came to America around 1892 and settled in Baltimore where he later married Catherine (Amendt). They had two children Anna K. and Bernard J. The family moved to Catonsville around 1900.
