Felix A. Burton was born in Millis, MA to Alfred E. and Gertrude Hitz Burton. He attended Bowdoin Liberal Arts College before obtaining a bachelors and masters degree in architecture from MIT (1909 & 1911). In 1912 he and wife, Helen, moved to Helena, MT where he worked for G. H. Carsley for one year before moving to Portland, OR where he worked with the well-known architect, A. E. Doyle. There he designed collegiate and bank buildings. He moved to New York in 1914 and Brunswick ME the following year, before settling in Massachusetts. He was well-known for his residential designs as well as several college buildings. He was also known as a fine water color artist.
He married Helen Lancaster Eaton in 1911.
Mr. Burton closed his office in 1943 and died in Boston at age 64.
