Second child, Ruth, born Friday, July 14th, 1893 at 7:30 AM, weight about 7 1/2 pounds.

"Friday, July 14th 1893 Little girl baby born to us at 7:30 A.M. weight about 7 1/2 pounds. Mother and Florence came last Wednesday on 8:30 P.M. train.

Saturday, July 15th 1893 Clara taken worse about 9 oclock P.M.

Thursday, July 20th 1893 The end has come. Clara died at 6 oclock this morning. Such a short and happy union ours has been. Baby very low & not expected to live the day out. Mollie & I take Ralph & Go to Thomaston for a casket.

Friday, July 21st 1893 Go to Terryville for certificate and permit. Name baby Ruth.

Saturday, July 22nd 1893 Laid my darling wife away this afternoon. Life does not present a very rosy light to me now. Baby somewhat better to-day.

Wednesday, July 26th 1893 Mollie goes home in A.M. and takes little Ruth with her. I go to Waterbury with them & back on 9:20."
