Mr. Ramey had been a resident of DeFuniak Springs and practiced law for over 37 years. He was a graduate of the University Of Florida College Of Law and received his Bachelors Degree from Stetson University. He served as the Attorney for the South Walton Fire District, South Walton County Mosquito Control, Walton County Contractors Competency Board and Chelco Electric. He was also the First President of the Walton County Historical Society and also former President of the Walton County Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Ramey was preceded in death by his father Roy Ramey.
Mr. Ramey is survived by his mother Mary Allen Ramey, his wife of 40 years Dianne R. Ramey both of DeFuniak Springs, one daughter Jennifer Ramey Benghuzzi and husband Ezzeldin of Tallahassee; one sister Andrea R. Steelman of DeFuniak Springs, also survived by his beloved "Chows" Ginger and Rags.
Visitation services were conducted Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 21, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1063 Circle Drive DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435, with Reverend John Napoli officiating. Pallbearers were Kelvin Wells, Lynn Mayfield, Steve Posche, Gene Smith, Scott Bytell and Randy Osteen.
Burial followed in the Leonia Cemetery.
