Francis Ray Fuss, Sr., 97, of Raccoon Twp., passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 25, 1917 in Berkeley Springs, WV, a son of the late Ray Morton and Myrtle (Ridgeway) Fuss, he was retired from Arco Chemical where he worked in plant security for 37 years. He attended Christ Alliance Church and had served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Green Valley Sportsman's Club, Monaca Turners, and he belonged to the Arco golf league and the Arco pistol club. In his retirement, Ray also enjoyed oil painting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera (Zereski) Fuss, on June 4, 1977; a son, Francis Ray Fuss, Jr., on June 24, 2004; eight brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Barlett) Fuss, Raccoon Twp.; seven children, Darlene Mae (John) Murphy, Siville, OH; Richard Alton (Mildred) Fuss, Stone Mountain, GA; Valeria A. (William) Edmondson, Indiana, PA; Brenda S. (Marvin) Conkel, Florida; Alfred R. Heibert, Rochester; James D. (Filiz) Fuss, Berlin, Germany; and Carla D. (Kevin) McCue, New Castle; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Friends will be received today from 4 to 7 p.m. in the DARROCH MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, www.darrochfuneralhome.com, where a memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m.
