Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side Cemetery Friday at 10 a.m. for longtime Taft resident Daniel L. Abney, 64.

Mr. Abney was born in Wayne, Okla., on July 29, 1927 and passed away on Sunday morning at the local Hospital.

When he was 10 years old he moved from Oklahoma to Taft with his family. Mr. Abney enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946 and again in 1948. He worked as a truck driver for many years and was last employed as a custodian at Kern Medical Center.

Mr. Abney was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Abney, in August of 1971 and by his mother, Sarah Abney in February of 1988. His survivors include his children and their spouses, his three sisters, 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his former wife Elda_Louise_Abney.

Friends may call at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home on Thursday until 8:30 p.m. to pay their respects.
