Sterling P. Pickett, Madison Retired Merchant, Dies
MADISON, Mo., June 11. --- Sterling Price Pickett, 86-year-old retired Madison feed store merchant, died about 1:30 o'clock this morning at his home here.
He had been in ill health for several years and had been bedfast since May 4. For the last 4 1-2 years he had shared his home with a nephew, Arthur Lee Woods, and Mrs. Woods.
Mr. Pickett was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Martin Pickett. He was born in Monroe County near Ash July 22, 1862.
His wife, the former Miss Martha Ellen Heathman of this vicinity, whom he married October 12, 1886, died in 1942.
Mr. Pickett was a merchant in Laddonia and in Woodlawn before he moved to Madison.
He was a member of the Madison Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the church building which he planned and helped to build.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. G. E. Neely. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
