Milan, MI--Age 69, passed away December 15, 2000 at his home in Milan. He was born April 19, 1931 in Benton, IL, the son of Wilford and Audrey (Allen) Ing, who moved to the Milan area in 1940. Mr. Ing served in the USAF during the Korean War. On September 2, 1955, he married (Living) Swanson of Saline and she survives. He was a member and an elder of the Peoples Presbyterian Church in Milan. Mr. Ing was a member and had served as Commander of the Earl Gladfelter American Legion Post #268 in Milan. In addition, he had been a longtime member of the Milan Masonic Lodge #323. He retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1986, after 32 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and became an avid gardener. In addition to his wife, survivors include: his two sons, both of Milan; his two granddaughters, his mother of Milan; two sisters, sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilford; brother, Donald; and granddaughter, Katelynn Ing. The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, December 17 at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Service with Rev. Frank Dunbar officiating. Private burial will be in the Marble Park Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Washtenaw or the Oncology Unit at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends 5-9 p.m. Saturday.
