Robert D. "Bob" Madsen, age 61, of Storm Lake, long-time realtor and owner of Madsen Music Center, died Thursday, July 17, 2003 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Memorial services will be Monday, July 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church with the Reverend David Koehler officiating. Private family burial will be in the Newell Cemetery prior to the memorial service. A memorial fund has been established.

Friends may call at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. where the family will be present to greet friends.

Robert Dean Madsen was born April 23, 1942 in Storm Lake, Iowa the son of Andrew and Marie (Hallengren) Madsen. He attended Highview School through the 11th grade and graduated from Rembrandt High School with the class of 1959.

In 1966 he established Madsen Music Center in Storm Lake which he continued to operate until his death. Bob was also a licensed real estate broker and owned and operated A.C.R. Real Estate in Storm Lake.

On November 12, 1971 he was united in marriage to Judy Barker in Rembrandt, Iowa.

Bob was baptized and confirmed at the Rembrandt Presbyterian Church and was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Hy Noon Kiwanis and played the accordion in the Kiwanis Zaur Kraut Band. He held a private pilot's license and was a CB and Amateur Ham Radio operator.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, Storm Lake, three sons, Dean Madsen, Ankeny, Keith Madsen and Lynn Ebel, Storm Lake and Mark and Jennifer Madsen, Boone, a brother, Kenneth Lee Madsen and his wife, Marthann, Pasadena, TX, a half-brother, Ernest Madsen and his wife, Vivian, Pocahontas, a sister-in-law, Marge Madsen, Rembrandt and numerous other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his half-brother, Glenn Madsen.
