A Manitowoc county farmer, Arthur J. Voss, 64, became the 19th highway fatality in Sheboygan County at 10:30 a.m. Thursday when he was pitched from his tractor and thrown under the wheels of a chopper wagon. The town of Meeme farmer, who was driving to land he owned in the Town of Herman, Sheboygan county, lost control of his tractor while driving on a town road near Ada. The tractor ran into the ditch, he was thrown from it and a chopper wagon the tractor was pulling ran over him. He was dead on arrival at St. Nicholas Hospital here. Mr. Voss sustained crushing chest injuries.
Mr. Voss was born October 7, 1905, in Town of Meeme, son of the late William and Emma Schwalenberg Voss. He attended district schools and married Marcella Spindler of town of Schleswig, Sept. 21, 1938. The couple located on a farm on Rt. 1, Elkhart Lake, and he was also a feed salesman.
Survivors include the wife; two daughters, Mrs. Darwin (Jean) Meyer of Rt. 1, Kiel, and Joyce, a sophomore at Kiel High School; two sons, Floyd of Rt. 1, Elkhart Lake and Earl at home; a sister, Mrs. Rudolph Anderson of Milwaukee; three brothers, Arvin of Brookfield, William of rural Kiel and Raymond of Cleveland, and two grandchildren. Four sisters and three brothers preceded in death.
