Henry Stauss

Henry Stauss, 77, of the Town of Herman, died today at St. Nicholas Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past four days.

He was born April 27, 1907, in the Town of Rhine, a son of Phillip and Ida Meyer Stauss. He attended district school.

On May 5, 1934, he married Marcella Gersmehl. They farmed in the Town of Herman. Mr. Stauss was also employed at Kohler Co. until his retirement in 1969. Mrs. Stauss died in 1969.

He was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman and was a former elder of the church. He was a past member of the Washington School Board at Ada.

Survivors are two sons, Dennis of Ada, and Wayne of Howards Grove; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Walter of the Town of Russell and Alvin of the Town of Rhine. He was preceded in death by a grandson, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethel United Church of Christ. The Rev. Hilbert Klein, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel after 4 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. Monday until time of services at the church.

A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Stauss’ name.
