Adelia Schleunes, 88, of Mayville, formerly of Millhome, died Thursday evening shortly after being admitted to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. She had apparently suffered a heart attack at her home. The former Adelia Eickhoff was born June 10, 1896 in Cedar Grove, a daughter of Fred and Helen Eick Eickhoff. She attended school at Millhome. On April 14, 1915 she married Henry Schleunes. They operated the homestead farm in Millhome until retiring in 1956. Mr. Schleunes died in 1968. For the past five years, Mrs. Schleunes lived in Mayville. She was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ in the Town of Herman and belonged to the Lades Aid Society.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Arline) Bub of rural Plymouth and Mrs. Denis (Ellen) Kolpack of Mayville; two sons, Merlin of Howards Grove and Karl of Greensboro, N.C.; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 pm at Bethel UCC in the Town of Herman. The Rev. Hilbert Klein, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel on Saturday from 5 to 8 pm; one Sunday from 9 to 11 am and at the church, from noon until the time of services. A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Schleunes' name.
