Mrs. Ida L. Roethel, 85, formerly of 920 Cleveland St., Kiel, died Thursday afternoon, February 15, 1990, at Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, where she was a resident since April of 1988.
Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 19, at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. Rev. John Baumann of Sheboygan will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Town of Meeme.
The former Ida Voss was born November 15, 1904, in the Town of Meeme, daughter of the late Louis and Albertina Schwalenberg Voss. She attended Pigeon River School in the Town of Meeme. She married Reinhold Roethel, April 25, 1925. The couple celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 1986. The couple farmed in the Town of Meeme until 1969 when they moved to Kiel. She was a lifelong member of Bethel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman and the Ladies Aide.
Survivors include her husband, Reinhold of the Calumet Homestead; two daughters, Mrs. Elaine (Erv) Humb of Menasha, Mrs. Carol (Carol) Kolb of Cleveland; seven grandchildren (private); nine great grandchildren (private); a brother, Harvey Voss of Manitowoc; a sister, Bertha Mahlich of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call Meiselwitz Funeral Home, from 4 p.m. Monday until the time of services. A memorial fund has been established for Bethel United Church of Christ or Alzheimer's Research.
