Norman H. Rietbrock, age 86, of W4393 Hwy. 32, Elkhart Lake (Ada), died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, Sept. 8, 2003.

He was born in the Town of Herman on Jan. 23, 1917, a son of the late Arthur and Minnie (Voss) Rietbrock. Norman attended Ada School. Florence Barts and Norman Rietbrock were united in marriage on Dec. 15, 1951 in Dubuque, Iowa.

He had been employed at the Kohler Company over 31 years before retiring. Norman was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, Schwarzwald and was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club. In his younger years, Norman was an outdoorsman, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed "making wood" to keep his family warm during the long Wisconsin winters. He was most proud of his John Deere tractor, which he enjoyed. What was most special and precious to him was his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who gave him much joy. Norman also was a polka music lover, and a big fan of the Jerry Schneider Band.

Surviving Norman is his loving wife of 51 years, Florence; two daughters, Margene (Carlos) Miller of Howards Grove and Darlene (Robert) Pieper of New Holstein; and three sons, Donald (Nancy) of Elkhart Lake, Gerald (Danice) of Howards Grove and Larry (Marie) Rietbrock of Kiel. Fourteen grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude (John) Konz of Sheboygan; and a sister-in-law, Sally Bolander
of New Holstein further survive him. An infant daughter; a brother, Ruben; a sister, Ellen; one grandchild; and an infant brother and sister, also preceded Norman in death.

A funeral service will be held for Norman on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 8 p.m. at the Zimmer Funeral Chapel, 117 N. Wisconsin Drive, Howards Grove. The Rev. Rebecca Johnston will officiate. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery in Ada.

Friends may call on the family on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name of Norman H. Rietbrock. The Zimmer Funeral Home of Howards Grove is assisting the family.
