The former Erma Roethel, she was born July 30, 1899, in the Town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, the daughter of Christian and Anna Ebeling Roethel. She attended district school in the Town of Schleswig.
On November 11th, 1922, she was married to Joseph H. Nennig at St. John United Church of Christ, Schwartzwald. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig until Mr. Nennig’s death on October 21st, 1955.
After her husband’s death, she made her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Lambert, Route 2, Kiel.
Mrs. Nennig had been employed at the Hansen Glove Company, formerly of Kiel, for 19 years.
She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Lester Lambert of Route 2, Kiel; a son, Joseph Jr. of Kiel; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Arno Roethel of rural Elkhart Lake, and two sisters, Mrs. Orville George of Milwaukee and Mrs. Hilda Lipchow of Kiel.
Funeral services were held at St. Peter United Church of Christ. The Reverend John F. Baumann, pastor, officiated. Burial was at Bethel Church Cemetery. Tri-County Record February 8th, 1979
