Ernst W. Meyer, 86, of R. 1 Cleveland, a retired Town of Herman farmer, died Thursday night at St. Nicholas Hospital where he had been a patient for five days. Born June 29, 1889, in the town Rhine, he was a son of Henry and Bernadine Rietbrock Meyer. He attended the district school. On Jan. 17, 1914, he married the former Emma Sinner at Bethel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman. The couple located on the Sinner homestead farm in the Town of Herman, which they operated until their retirement in 1958. They observed their 60th wedding anniversary in 1964. Mr. Meyer was a member of Bethel UCC and a former church elder.
Survivors include his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Calvin (Lorinda) Knoener, R. 1, Cleveland, and Mrs. Albert (Hildegarde) Mioffer, Elkhart Lake; two grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and a brother, Herman in Kiel. Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel UCC, with Dr. Reinhardt Ulrich, intern pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
