Frederick “Fritz” Marx, age 83, of 540 Mark Ave., Sheboygan Falls, died Tuesday,
Sept. 30, 2003, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.
Frederick was born on Sept. 29, 1920, to the late Herman and Lydia (Marquardt)
Marx. On May 16, 1942, Frederick Marx and Martha Huber were united in marriage
at Bethel United Church of Christ. She preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 1997.
On Oct. 21, 1942, Frederick entered the United States Army. He courageously
served during World War II, where he was awarded a Bronze Star for heroic
achievement and a Purple Heart for being wounded in action while serving in
the Aleutian Islands, South Philippines and Ryukus. After Frederick was
honorably discharged from the Army, he worked at his father’s garage, HD Marx
Service Station, in Ada. He then worked for the Sheboygan Falls Creamery, where
he picked up milk and repaired the milk trucks. Frederick most recently worked
for Lake-to-Lake, where he delivered milk to the stores and worked in the cooler
at the plant. After retirement from Lake-to-Lake, he worked at the Town of Herman
Recycle Center. After marriage, Frederick became a faithful member of Bethel
United Church of Christ. He was a volunteer member of the Ada Fire Department,
an active member of the Franklin American Legion Post 387, and was also a member
of the Washington School Board in Ada. Frederick was a proud father and grandfather,
who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-
grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping, polka music and his black labs.
Frederick is survived by one son, Steven (Karen) Marx of Cleveland; three daughters,
Mary Ann Olm of Cleveland, Rosalie (Gary) Henschel of Elkhart Lake and Janice (Mark)
Miller of Plymouth; 13 grandchildren, Kelly (Eric) Miota, Tim Olm, Tom (Kay) Henschel,
Kari (Rodney) Pearsall, Jon (Anita) Henschel, Jana (Brian) Charnon, Mark Jr. (Nicole)
Miller, Manda (special friend, Dennis Wantland) Miller, Anna Miller, Lea Miller,
Tim (fiancee, Brenda Randall) Miota, Rob (Leah) Marx and Erin (special friend,
Howard Spiess) Marx; five great-grandchildren, Josh Miota, Summer Henschel, Derek
and Clarissa Henschel and Adam Miller; five brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law,
Delores Huber, Martin and Dorsey Huber, Hilda and Elmer Kraemer; one sister, Lucille
Madson; and a special friend, Myrtle Krause. Frederick is further survived by nieces,
nephews, other relatives and many friends. Frederick was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Martha; a son-in-law, Bill Olm; brother-in-law, Bill Madson; and
11 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A funeral service for Frederick will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. at Bethel
United Church of Christ, W4225 County Line Road, Elkhart Lake, near Ada, with the
Rev. Rebecca Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Friends may call upon the family Sunday at the CHURCH from 1 p.m. until the time of
service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name of
