LYDIA B. KRETSCH

Lydia B. Kretsch, 90, formerly of Cleveland, Wis., died Sunday morning, July 31, 1994, at Willowdale Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein, where she resided the past three years.
She is the former Lydia Schneider, born Nov. 5, 1903 in the Town of Meeme, Wis., daughter of the late Ferdinand and Emma Roethel Schneider.
She attended Pigeon River Grade School in the Town of Meeme.
On Feb. 14, 1925, she married Armin Kretsch at Bethel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman. The couple celebrated their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries. Lydia worked in the food service department at Lakeland College for 17 years, retiring in 1972. The couple lived in Sheboygan for several years before moving to Spring Corners in 1927.
She was a life-long member of Bethel UCC, Town of Herman, where she sang in the church choir for many years. She also was a member of the Ladies Aid for approximately 65 years. Prior to entering Willowdale, she was a member of the Howards Grove Senior Citizens. Lydia enjoyed gardening, flowers, roses, traveling and playing cards with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Armin, two sons, Armin (Florence) Kretsch, South Port, Conn.; James Kretsch, Alamo, Calif.; one daughter, Doris (Harold) Henschel, Ada; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four step-grandchidren; 11 step-great-grandchildren, 11 step-great-great-grandchildren, two special nieces, Jane Spindler Enders, Plymouth and Karen Spindler Hellmer, Cascade; one sister, Hilda Jensen, Sheboygan Falls; two brothers, Walter Schneider, Howards Grove and Milton Schnider, rural Elkhart Lake. She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Judith and Joyce and four sisters, Ida Ella, Erna and Elsa and also by one son-in-law, LeRoy Semph.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 1994, at Bethel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman with the Rev. Melinda Feller, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Wednesday and at the church, on Wednesday, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services.
A memorial has been established in her name.
