Carl J. Kernen, 76, of 3204 Mill Road, died Tuesday, April 3, 1990 at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.
He was born July 14, 1913 in Sheboygan, a son of the late Herman and Anna Heise Kernen.
On June 4, 1938, he married Edna Westpfahl in Sheboygan. In 1988, the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. Kernen was employed by Optenberg Iron Works for 40 years, retiring in 1981. Carl was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; a son, Thomas (Cathy) and a grandson, Jeff Kernen, all of Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral services for Carl Kernen will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 1990 at EBENEZER UNITED CHUCH OF CHRIST, Taylor Drive and Saemann Avenue. The Rev. Dr. Robert Page, pastor, will be officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Ada, WI.
Friends may call at Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave., on Wednesday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a the church on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Kernen’s name.
