Edward E. Schafer, 83, of Millstadt, Ill., born August 13, 1927, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Edward owned and operated A1 Grease Service for 20 years and he previously worked for Certainty Roofing, Circle Packing and Swift & Company. He was a Korean Army War Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Schafer; his parents, Erich Joseph and Rosealie Elizabeth, nee Michalike, Schafer; and two sisters, Dorothy Albright and Marie Stofel.

Surviving are his two daughters, Kathy A. (Ron) Chavis of Cary, N.C., and Jeanette L. Adams of Millstadt, Ill.; a granddaughter, Lynn Chavis; and a brother, Robert Schafer of Dixon, Mo.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, Ill., with Father Matthew Elie officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
