Dana Sue Gulbranson, long-time employee and Department Director at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center died on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at her home in Boise following a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by friends and family at the time of her death. Her loss is felt deeply by many here in the Treasure Valley.

Daughter of Harriet and Albert Broek, dearest sister of Cheryl Sneller, Leila Wierda, Verlyn Broek, Curtis Broek, and Michelle Edwards. Beloved wife of Kristjahn Gulbranson, and loving mother of Carlye and Solvae Gulbranson.

Dana was born October 8th, 1955 in Sioux Center, Iowa. She graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1974. By 1978, Dana received her BA in Nursing from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD.

She married her loving husband Kristjahn in December, 1978 and soon after settled in Boise. Dana considered the birth of their two children, Carlye in 1984 and Solvae in 1988, to be her greatest accomplishments. Dana loved her daughters unconditionally and was dedicated to their education in academics and the arts. She taught her children by example and was a guiding compass for all who needed it.

Dana was a devoted and passionate nursing professional at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Boise for more than 30 years. Many speak of her friendship, support, and tremendous leadership. Dana was a recipient of the prestigious President's Award from St. Luke's in 1996, as well as the esteemed TWIN (Tribute to Women in Industry) Award in 2003.

When Dana had the time to get away, she would often sail the lakes of Idaho with her family and friends or Nordic ski through her many favorite mountain trails. Dana always enjoyed a good meal and drinks with friends. She had the wonderful ability to bring people together with her warm and inviting spirit. Holiday gatherings were her specialty. Dana had a sincere love for life and the people she knew. Her cheerful spirit will be carried on by all the lives she touched.

A memorial celebration of Dana's life will be held at 10 am Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Anderson Center on the Boise Campus of St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. There will also be a friends and family memorial at the Gulbranson household on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 3pm.
