Sarah died, in her own home, at 743 East Wabash Avenue, in Crawfordsville, Union Twp., Montgomery Co., Indiana, at 8:50 A.M., on Tuesday, November 10, 1903, of toxemia, of one month's duration, due to supposed portal phlebitis, of several month's duration, as written on her death certificate (simply put, she died as a result of liver problems), so she had been sick, and probably, in pain, for quite a while. Her grandson, Will Archey's, funeral had been conducted in her home, just nineteen months before. Sarah was born to John & Anna (Insley) Crew, on September 9, 1827, in Ohio, so she was 76 years, 2 months, and 1 day old, when she died. Her 76th birthday, probably, wasn't as happy an occasion, as it could have been. Sarah lived in Ohio, probably, with her parents, until the family moved to Sugar Grove, Jackson Twp., Tippecanoe Co., Indiana, in 1846, where she married, John McColm Kendall, on March 1, 1847, at the age of 19. Sarah & John had two children together: Mary, in April 1852; and John William, in February 1854. Mr. Kendall died sometime between September 4th, and September 30th, 1855, when he was about 32 years old. Sarah married, Samuel Reynolds, a widower, on December 15, 1857, in Tippecanoe County, when her two children were 5, and 3, years old, respectively. Sarah & Samuel had three children together: Andrew (December 1859); Pembroke (February 1861); and Lida (November 1863). Both John M. Kendall, and Samuel Reynolds, were farmers; and Samuel seems to have done very well at it, because at one time, he and Sarah had live-in servants. By the time of her death, Sarah's daughter, Mary, had married, Blaine A. Archey, and they were living in Frankfort, Indiana; and her son, John William, had married, Mattie Ann Burnett, and was living in Cherryvale, Montgomery Co., Kansas. Andrew, Pembroke, and Lida (Reynolds) Waters, were all living in Crawfordsville. The Reverends, Paul C. Curnick, and George McIntosh, of Indianapolis, Indiana, conducted Sarah's funeral, in her own home, at 2;30 P.M., on Wednesday, November 11, 1903, with burial following, in Oak Hill Cemetery. Sarah's parents, both of her husbands, and two grandsons, that I know of, Mary Archey's son, William, and Andrew Reynold's son, Wilbur, preceded her in death; and I don't know which of her brothers, and sisters, did the same. She was, also, survived by John William Kendall's five children; and some great-grandchildren. Her obituary states only that all of her own children survived her, and where they were living, at the time of her death, and that: "Mrs. Reynolds was one of the oldest and most respected residents of the city and her death will come as a great blow to the bereaved family and friends." May she rest in peace.
