Son of Henry & Mary (Thompson) Kocher. Married Eliza May Dunlap 12/23/1897 in Huntingdon Furnace, Huntingdon Co., PA.

Served in the Army during WWI, per his burial card, but the dates of service (5/28/1898 to 11/21/1898) indicate the Spanish-American War.

Kocher, Harry A. - Pvt., Sheridan Troop.

Sheridan Troop of Cavalry, Pennsylvania National Guard was organized July 15, 1871 in Tyrone, Blair co., Pa. Named in honor of Major Genl. Philip H. Sheridan, Cavalry commander during the Civil War. It saw active service during the Spanish-American War, as the Sheridan Troop, Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry. When war was declared on Spain, April 21, 1898, the entire National Guard of Pennsylvania was activated. On April 27 they were already mobilized and mustered into Federal service. Some units were ordered to the Philipines, but others were sent to southern Army camps to await orders, but did not see active duty.
