Marie Obéline Ruel, daughter of Germain Ruel and Julie Roy, was born on 3 Aug 1866 in St. Ferdinand, Halifax, Mégantic, Québec, Canada. She was baptized at St. Ferdinand the following day. Obéline immigrated to the United States after 1891 and settled in Dover, Strafford, New Hampshire. On 2 Oct 1905, she married widower Joseph Philias Cantin, son of Aléxandre Cantin and Marie Marcoux. Obéline helped Philias raise the four children from his first marriage. In 1919, her husband was left widowed for the second time. Obéline died at age 53 and was interred in Mount Calvary Cemetery on 19 Aug 1919.
