At her home in this city September 21, 1918, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Foster, after a protracted illness of nearly a year. Mrs. Foster was born at Troy, N.Y. October 23, 1839.
In 1847 she came with her parents to Ottumwa, Iowa, moving from there to Oshkosh, Wis., in 1848 where they remained until 1852. She attended the public school and afterward the Lawrence University. In 1852 the family came to Centerville, Pierce Co., taking the steamer Nominee from Galena, Ill., to Hudson. They remained on a farm a couple of years when Dr. Whipple moved his family to Prescott.
She was married in Prescott April 5. 1860 to John C. Foster and moved to River Falls, which place has since been her home. Mr. Foster died in Oct., 1905. Seven children were born to them, three of whom are living. Mrs. W. H. Putnam and Miss Bertha Foster of this city and Isaac Foster of Fort Myers, Florida. Two grandchildren also survive her, Mrs. John Graves, of Kila, Mont., and Llewellyn Thomas who is with the Australian service in France.
The funeral services took place at the home of W. H. Putnam, Rev. T. C. Egland of Hudson officiating. The burial was made in the Episcopal Cemetery.
