Robert enlisted in the Confederate States Army on 30-31 December 1861 at Columbia, South Carolina. He was mustered as a private in Company C, 19th South Carolina Infantry.

(special thanks to John Burgess #47495171 for the following info) Robert is the son of Samuel Bratcher and Mary Maddox.

His second wife is shown as widowed on the 1910 census. No children after 1900. He died sometime after the 1900 census and before the 1910 census.
