Mrs. James E. Lowry, aged 49 years, 3 months and 5 days, died in a hospital in Minneapolis Tuesday, January 7, 1919 following an operation for the removal of gall stones. The deceased whose maiden name was Jennie Leach, was born in Michigan, October 2, 1869 but came with her parents to Wisconsin in infancy and had been a resident in and near Colfax ever since and the past few years had resided on a farm on route 3 from Colfax. She was married to James E Lowry in December 1891 and to them were born four children—two boys and two girls as follows: Etta, Paul, at the present time in an Army training camp in the south, Morris and Elizabeth. She is also survived by her husband and three brothers and three sisters as follows: Frank Leach of Menomonie, Sam and Herb of Wheeler, Mrs. August Mittelstadt of Colfax, Mrs. A. W. Winship of Barnard, Montana and Mrs. Guy Cary of Colfax. Besides these a half-brother Eugene Roswell also survive her.. The remains arrived here last Wednesday evening from Minneapolis and the funeral was held Monday afternoon at the M. E. Church and the Pastor Rev. E. J. Sachtjen, preaching the sermon with internment in the Hill Grove Cemetery.
