Bob Owen White passed away on March 22, 2011 in Salt Lake City due to a chronic respiratory condition.

He was born January 29, 1917 in Provo, Utah to Joseph Owen White and Reva Snow White. Bob grew up in Provo, graduating from Brigham Young University in June of 1939 with a Bachelors Degree in Geology.

During World War II, he served with the Air Force setting up airfield radio stations on various islands in the Central and South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946 with the rank of Captain.

Following his military service, Bob continued working towards a Masters in Geology at first the University of Utah then Brigham Young University. He was awarded that degree in August of 1954. His marriage to Helen Fowler was in November of that same year.

His employment included Utah Southern Oil Company, his own office as a consulting geologist during the uranium boom of the 1950's and then Hercules Powder Company from 1961 to 1971 as a process engineer at the Bacchus, Utah and Radford, Virginia facilities.

Bob leaves his wife; his sister Fay Woolston of Orem; and a brother, Dan R. White of Provo. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.

At Bob's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Just remember him, if you wish, when you are looking at Mount Timpanogos. It was his favorite place.
