The town of Lynden was platted by Phoebe and Holden Judson in 1871.

Holden was Lynden's first Mayor.

The Blaine Journal - Thursday, May 16, 1889: The new hall at Lynden being built by H. A. JUDSON is nearing completion. It is 40x80 feet, two stories high. The lower story will contain stores and the hall will have an arched ceiling 23 feet in the clear. This is a very creditable building.

In 1891, H. A. JUDSON was made chairman of the new board of county commissioners.
