Charles Fremont Brothersen, 89, father, grandfather, husband, friend, passed away January 19, 2004 of causes incident to age.
He was born November 27, 1914 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He was the son and fifth of 11 children of Francis and Amsena Johansen Brothersen. He married Martha Webb Francom September 9, 1942 in Malad, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
He was educated in Mt. Pleasant schools and graduated from North Sanpete High School.
He attended Steven-Henegars Business College, Denver University, U of U and Weber State University.
He served in the USAF during World War II from March, 1942 to Sept. 1945, serving in England, North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Egypt, and Burma.
Following his release from the Air Force, he worked several government agencies and in 1953 went to Hill Air Force Base and retired from there in 1979.
He was a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and NARFE.
Charles loved horses and always kept one or two. He also loved camping and traveling. He was a member of the LDS church and served in many leadership capacities. The love of his life were his grandchildren and he supported them in all their activities.
He is survived by his wife and three children, Charlene (Kenneth) Palmer, Mt. Pleasant; Carl F, Logan; Bruce F. (Becky), Elmira, NY; 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one brother, Thomas Brothersen, Mt. Pleasant; and four sisters, Eva Hortin, Salt Lake City; Mary Christensen, Moroni; Edith Nielson, Ephraim; Beth Yorgasen, Provo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Loren, Alton, Ervin, and two sisters, Reath Draper, and Betty Brothersen and one grandson, Joseph.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Wasatch LDS Chapel, 789 Wasatch Dr. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery at 3 p.m.
