Irene Estelle Streckfus was born on October 22, 1894, in Highlandtown, Baltimore, Maryland. She was the daughter of George Joseph Streckfus and Catherine Margaret Streckfus nee Becker. She had 11 sisters and 7 brothers. Her father, George J. Streckfus was a coal dealer, whose coal yard was on O'Donnell St. in Baltimore.
In 1912, at the age of 18, Irene married L. John Kludy (1885-1919). They had two children, John J. Kludy and Irene R. Kludy. L. John Kludy died around 1919, and Irene returned home to live with her mother.
Around 1926, Irene E. Kludy met and married Edward Henry Ikena. They had two sons, Edward Henry Ikena Jr. and Richard J. Ikena.
Irene Estelle Ikena died at the age of 63, on December 18, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was interred in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery on December 21, 1957.
