Wedding Announcement
The News (Frederick, MD) - November 19, 1903

A pretty wedding took place near Dickerson, Montgomery County, yesterday, when Joseph Newton Darby, son of the late Thomas D. Darby, was married to Miss Mary Eleanor Chiswell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Chiswell. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride, "The Rockland." Rev. Dr. Charles H. Waters, of Washington Grove, officiated. After the ceremony a reception was held after which the bride and groom left for Baltimore and the North. Upon their return they will reside near Dawsonville. The groom is a farmer.

Obituary
The News (Frederick, MD) August 17, 1951

Joseph N. Darby, retired farmer of Poolesville District, died Wednesday night at Washington Sanitarium, Takoma Park, aged 87 years. Mr. Darby at time of his death maintained residence at 8360 Fenton Street, Silver Spring. He was a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Darby and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Chiswell Darby, and the following children: Mrs. Evalyn Allnutt, Poolesville; Mrs. Reno Penn, Clinton; Mrs. Lutie Culp, Blue Point, L. I.; Mrs. Ethel Hermann, Washington; Gordon Darby, Silver Spring; Joseph Darby, Kensington. Two brothers, Robert Darby, New York, and Harry Darby, Beallsville, also survive.

The body rests at the funeral home in Barnesville where services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. William B. Hilton, funeral director.
