Beyer, Richard "Dick" 78, of Apache Junction, Ariz. and formerly of Shelby, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006 in Arizona. He was born Sept. 27, 1928 to Alden and Ethel Beyer. He entered the U.S. Navy shortly after World War II in 1946. He married Beverly Slagle Oct. 26, 1963. He lived in Oceana County most of his life before retiring to Arizona. He founded Beyer Auction Service in 1974 and auctioneered for 33 years. Mr. Beyer was a diesel mechanics instructor at West Shore Community College, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ. He also belonged to the Wigton-Benona Masonic Lodge. Mr. Beyer is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, Nicholas (Charlotte) Beyer of Hesperia, Thomas (Debra) Beyer of Shelby, David (Sue) Beyer of Apache Junction, Ariz., Marsha (Bud) Gould of Muskegon, Lori (Dan) Fekken of Montague and Tony (Paige) Beyer of Washington State; son-in-law, Paul Perrin of Muskegon; sister, Margaret (Phil) Weenink of Ocala, Fla.; brother, Robert (Laura) Beyer of Hart; brother-in-law, Dennis Campbell of Hart; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Karen Perrin and grandson, Frank Beyer. *Elbridge Cemetery.
