Patricia Ann Dunlap Rawls, 56, of Wilmington, died Monday, March 21, 2011, at home.

Pat was born March 30, 1954 in El Paso, TX, daughter of the late Brady Dunlap and Ethel Sowell Dunlap. Her husband, Guy Rawls, and a brother, John Jefferson Dunlap, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Rawls was a probation officer with the N.C. Department of Corrections for 30 years. After retirement, she worked part time with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Department. Her humanitarian endeavors included working with battered and abused women locally as well as Doctors without Borders internationally.

Pat loved to spend time at the beach in the Wilmington area. This was a major part of her life.

She is survived by her brother, Charles B. Dunlap and wife, Ann, of Glen Burnie, MD; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members; and numerous friends throughout the law enforcement community around N.C.

The family will receive friends from 7pm to 9pm Friday, March 25, 2011, at Andrews Market Street Chapel.

A funeral service will be 3pm Saturday, March 26, 2011, at New Hope Presbyterian Church, Winnabow, NC, with Rev. Ray Mendenhall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
