While in the Army, he enjoyed playing baseball on their traveling team. He was honorably discharged in 1969.
Marty dedicated 35 years of service with the Corps of Engineers in Chesapeake City, MD as a bridge maintenance supervisor, retiring in 2001.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing baseball, gardening, fishing and hunting and was a talented decoy carver.
