Hugh Pennington Dead
The town of Vernon and surrounding country were greatly shocked on last Friday morning by the announcement that HUGH PENNINGTON was dead. Mr. PENNINGTON had been sick for sometime in Amory, Miss and had just recovered sufficiently to come to Vernon two days before his death. His remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near town, and were followed to the grave by a large crowd of sorrowing relatives and sympathizing friends. His death was caused by an abscess on the lungs. (The Vernon Courier, September 11, 1890)
