KEENE, NH - Samuel Sakter, 94, formerly of West Springfield, died Tuesday March 22nd. Born in Holyoke, he was a graduate of West Springfield High School. Samuel was a member of the Merchant Marines from 1943 to 1946, serving in the invasion of Normandy. He was a machinist for Monsanto, Hamilton Standard, Allfab, Goodyear, and MacDonald Douglas, retiring in 1978. Samuel leaves his cousin Charlotte Kapiloff of Keene, NH. His funeral will be Friday March 25th at 3:00 PM at the Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home with burial in Kesser Israel Cemetery.
