Eupha Mae Fletcher was born Oct 6, 1914 in Americus, Sumter Co., Georgia, and died Jan 20, 2011, in Chico, Butte Co., California.

She was the daughter of Herbert Sinclair Fletcher (01/20/1880 - 10/23/1914), and Beautrice Elder Johnson (10/12/1885 - 09/14/1965). Her father died 17 days after she was born, leaving her mother a widow with six children. Eupha was her mother's only daughter. Her brothers were:
Enoch J. "Jack" Fletcher
02/11/1905 - 04/06/1995)
Virtress Lamar Fletcher
10/16/1906 - 12/03/1930)
James Eulan Fletcher
08/18/1908 - 03/03/1959)
Clyde Pearlman Fletcher
09/29/1910 - 11/06/1990)
Herman Elroy Fletcher
03/03/1913 - 02/12/1971)

On Sep 12, 1931, she married in Tampa, Hillsborough Co., Florida, Doil Ovely Good (03/30/1911 - 01/16/1981). Doil was the son of Fred Ovley Good (08/13/1884 - 02/03/1944), and Elsie May Marks (01/29/1887 - 08/07/1982).

Together, Eupha and Doil had five children who survive.

A few minutes before noon Eupha passed away. Her death was caused by respiratory failure. She did not have pneumonia. Her daughter was with her just before she died, and relates that her breathing was a bit rough, but not labored. Her daughter went out to the lobby for a drink of water, and returned in a few minutes to find that she had stopped breathing. She died in Chico, Butte County, California in the Enloe Hospital. She was 96 years, 3 months, and 14 days old. Two years ago in January she spent about a month in a nursing home because of respiratory problems, and last January she spent a few days in the hospital, and about two months in her apartment to recoup from double pneumonia. She suffered with many aches and pains associated with growing old along with COPD and an enlarged heart. Her doctors had done a very good job, along with her daughter's insistence that they do so, in managing her pain medications and inhalers. Essentially, working together they had reached a "sweet spot" where Eupha was for the most part out of pain, but not suffering from over medication.

In November all of her children got together for a weekend at her daughter's house to just kick back, chew the fat, and enjoy each other's company. Eupha attended one day, but asked to be taken back to her apartment in the early afternoon, as she was tired. However, during that day the family looked at several hundred pictures taken over many years recalling past events and laughing at each other. That weekend is something her children won't soon forget.

At Christmas time she enjoyed visitors, and even went on a bus trip to view the Christmas Decorations around the town of Paradise, where she lived. She was active in many of the activities her retirement home had to offer, such as bean bag baseball, cards, Bingo, Scrabble, and she especially enjoyed the Sunday morning church service. Because Eupha had a "tin ear," her children were never sure that she enjoyed the singing and music, but she would sit in the second floor alcove and listen. She was an avid reader, often reading a new book every day, and she religiously worked the daily crossword puzzle.

Americus, Georgia to Chico, California has been a long and interesting trip for Eupha. Some downs, but a lot more ups. Eupha's faith in her religion was very strong. Yesterday she said that she was ready to die, and knew she would be with her beloved husband soon. She said that she loves all of her children and grand children, and hopes to see all of them there (Heaven) someday.
