The body of Joseph Nelson Fears, 67, colored, arrived in Grand Island Saturday morning at 4:30 o'clock, from Omaha, for burial. Funeral services were held from the Geddes chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, Rev. Porter, of the A.M.E. church, officiating. Burial was in the Grand Island cemetery. His death occurred last Tuesday at St. Joseph's hospital in that city of paralysis, following a two weeks' illness. Born in New Castle, Henry county, Indiana, March 24, 1860, he had been a resident of Omaha for more than twenty-five years. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Fears, of Omaha; Mrs. Hanna Johnson, of Grand Island; Mrs. Belle Boyd, of Sioux City, Ia.; and two brothers, James Fears, of Hastings; and Charles Fears, of Omaha.
