He was born March 14, 1925, in Ware Shoals, South Carolina to Fletcher C. Medlock and Annie Medlock. On May 7, 1946, he married Marian Smith of Beaumont, Texas.
Rusty served in World War II in the Naval Air Corps as a Bow Gunner on a PBY, Squadron 204 for 2 1/2 years. He was employed by Sun Oil Company for 32 years serving as manager of gas accounting at the time of his retirement.
He moved to Wildwood, Texas and lived there 21 years, where he enjoyed woodworking and playing golf. He moved to McKinney in 2002 and was a member of First Baptist Church, McKinney, where he was active in The Golden Heirs Bible Fellowship Group.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Medlock of McKinney; daughters, Susan Medlock Watson and husband, Philip of Dallas, Becky Boggs and husband, Dale of Terrell, and Debi Huggins and husband, Tommy of McKinney; son, Tommy Medlock and wife, Monica of Garland; grandchildren, Jared Huggins and wife, Diana of Beverly Hills, CA, Rylie Huggins of McKinney, Rusty Medlock of Forney, Devin Medlock of Austin, Derek Thistlewaite of Garland, and Buffy Cochran and husband, Steve of Killeen; great-grandchildren, Natalie Huggins of Beverly Hills, CA, and Courtney McBee, Calli Goodner and Baleigh Goodner of Killeen; great-great-granddaughter, Adalyn Ramos of Killeen; and nieces, Janice McDonald and Linda Simpson of Ware Shoals, SC.
He was predeceased by his sister, Macie Lollis of Ware Shoals, SC.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2011, at First Baptist Church of McKinney with Rev. Randy Morlan officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas.
